Qn2. 19 men, working 6 hours a day can do a piece of work in 12 days. Find the number of days in which 38 men working 8 hours a day can do twice the work. Assume that 2 men of the first group do as much work in 1 hour as 3 men of the second group do in 1.5 hours. A.20 days B.22 days C.24 days D.20.25 days
Answer-D. 20.25 days 2 men of first group do as much work in 1 hours as 3 men of the second group in 1.5 hours therefore,Ratio between efficiency of men of first group and men of 2nd group will be= 4.5:2 So we know, M1D1T1E1W2 = M2D2T2E2W1 D2= 19*6*12*4.5*2/38*8*2 = 20.25 days
Qn3. If 10 men and 6 boys can reap 23 acre in 4 days, and 3 men and 2 boys can reap 7 acre in 2 days, How many boys must assist 14 men in order that they may reap 45 acres in 6 days? A. 4 boys B. 2 boys C. 5 boys D. 6 boys
Answer-A.4 boys Firstly we should find relationship b/w man and boys. therefore, 10m+6b=23/4( in one day)...........(i) 3m+2b=7/2 ..............(ii) Divide above equation with each other; We find, 140m+84b=138m+92b 1m=4b....................(iii) Then 5m+3b=10*4+6 boys=46 boys..................from (i) now use M1D1W2=M2D2W1 M2= 46*45*4/23*5=60 therefore 60-14*4 = 4 boys must be assist with 14 men.
Qn4. A takes as much time as B and C together take to finish a job. A and B working together can finish the job in 20 days.C alone can do the same work in 30 days. in how many days can B do the same work? A.100 days B. 120 days C. 110 days D.none of these
Answer- B.120 days Ratio b/w efficiency of A and B+C is 1:1.................eq.1 acc. to question A,B and C can do the work in 1 day= 1/20+1/30=5/60=1/12 therefore A,B and C can do a work in 12 days...............eq,2 according to eq.1 A or B+C will do whole work in 24 days. therefore B will complete whole work in= 1/24-1/30=1/120 = 120 days
Qn5.A can do work in 50 days and B can do same work in 40 days. They work together for 5 days then B completes the remaining work. In how many days B will do the remaining work? A.30 days B.32 days C.31 days D.33 days
Answer-C.31 days A and B both can do the work in 5 days= 5*(1/50+1/40)=9/200*5=9/40 rest of the work 1-9/40=31/40 will be done by B. therefore B will do remaining work in 40*31/40 = 31 days.
Qn6. A and B can do a work in 45 and 40 days. They start working together and after some time A left and B finisher remaining work in 23 days. Find after how much time did A leave? A.9 days B.11 days C.10 days D.6 days
Answer-A.9 days Work done by B in 23 days= 23/40 A+B work together 1-23/40= 17/40 work A+B can do whole work in ( 1/45+1/40)=17/360 i.e 360/17 days A+B will do 17/40 in =360/17*17/40 = 9 days

Answer-A.15 days, 30 days Ratio of efficiency between A:B= 2:1 Total work = 10*3=30 units we know, time = work/efficiency A can do work in 30/2 = 15 days B can do work in 30/1 = 30 days

Answer-A. 12 days,36 days We can do it with ratio method; according to question , ratio of efficiency= 3:1 ratio of time=1:3 so, difference b/w ratio=2 units 2 units =24 days time taken by A i.e. 1 units = 12 days time taken by B i.e. 3 units = 36 days
Qn10. There is sufficient food for 400 men for 32 days. after 28 days , 280 men leave the group. How long will the food last? A.13 days B.12 days C.13 1/3 days D.15 days
Answer-C.13 1/3 days If no one had left the group then food had lasted for 4 days only. Therefore, with 400 men food lasted for 4 days with 120 men food will last for = 400*4/120 = 13 1/3 days
