Qn2. 'A' and 'B' began a business with Rs. 3500 and Rs. 2500 respectively. After 4 months 'C' joined with Rs. 6000. If the difference of share between 'C' and 'B' is Rs. 1977, then find out the total annual income?

=Rs. 13180

Qn3. If x + y = 18 and xy = 72, what is the value of x²+ y² =

Qn4. 36 labourers complete a work in 14 days. If the work is to be completed in 8 days, then how many additional labourers are needed ?

by the fractional method
36 × (14/8) = 63 Labourers
therefore, 27 more labourers to be needed.

Qn5. 'A' is 60% more efficient than B. If 'A' takes 15 days to complete the work, then A and B together complete the work in how many days?

Let efficiency of B = 100%
the efficiency of A =  160 %
EA : EB  = 160 : 100
That is 8: 5
so, the ratio of time will be = 5: 8
5 units = 15 days (Days taken by A)
1 unit = 3 days
8 units = 24 days (Days taken by B)
Now
A + B = 1/15 + 1/24 = (8 + 5)/120 = 13/120 =9³⁄₁₃
which equals to 9³⁄_{13 .}

=  x² + (5x + 3x) + 15

y = -1, -2  (ii)
From (i) and (ii) it is clear that y>x Ans.

Qn7. Rs. 2000 amount to Rs. 2600 in 5 years at simple interest. If the interest rate is increased by 3%, it would amount to how much?

Principal = Rs. 2000
Amount = Rs. 2600
Interest = 2600 - 2000 = 600
Therefore, % of interest of 5 years= (600/2000) × 100
= 30%
Rate of interest of 5 years = 30%
Rate of interest of 1 year = 6%
If rate is increased by 3%
New rate = 9%
So, S.I = (P × R × T)/100
= (2000 × 9 × 5)/100
= Rs. 900
Amount = P + I
= 2000 + 900 = Rs 2900

Qn8. Distance between the pair of point (-5,7) and (-1,3):

Total Rate = R + R + R²/100 (Successive Increase)
= 10 + 10 + 100/100 = 21%
Compound Interest = 21% of 12600
= (21/100) × 12600
= Rs. 2646

Qn10. If the radius of a circle is decreased by 20%, find the percentage decrease in its area :
A.36%
B.32%
C.21%

We know area of circle = πr²
Decrease = 20%
Total decrease = D + D + D²/100 ( Successive decrease)
= -20 - 20 + 400/100
= -40 + 4 = -36% (-ve sign for decrease)

Qn12. An Aeroplane covers a certain distance with speed 240 km/hour in 5 hours. If the same distance is to be covered in 1²⁄₃ hours what will the speed of the aeroplane?

Distance = Speed × Time
= 240 × 5
= 1200 km
Speed = d/t
= (1200/5) × 3 = 720km/h
